At MindPsych we provide psychotherapy and counselling in a safe, confidential and professional environment in which you can explore your thoughts and feelings. We work with individual adults, adolescents and children for an open-ended or agreed period, both short and long-term counselling.
Individual Counselling - is a personal opportunity to receive support and experience growth during challenging times in your life. Individual counselling can help you deal with many and varied personal issues in life.
Couples Counselling - is a means to resolving problems and conflicts that couples have not been able to handle effectively on their own. It involves both partners sitting down with the therapist to discuss their thoughts and feelings. The aim is to help them gain a better understanding of themselves and their partner, to decide if they need and want to make changes, and if so, to help them do so. Couples counselling typically includes both partners, but sometimes one partner chooses to work with a therapist alone. The specific treament plan depends on the situation.
Family Therapy - is often sought due to a life change or stress negatively affecting one or all areas of family closeness, family structure or communication style. This mode of counselling can take a variety of forms. Sometimes it is best to see an entire family together for several sessions. Common issues addressed in family counselling are concerns around parenting, sibling conflict, loss of family members, new members entering the family, dealing with a major move or general change affecting the family system.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
Psychotherapy and Counselling is a collaborative effort between client and therapist that can help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems which are causing emotional turmoil. It helps people to explore their lives in order to understand and work through emotional and psychological problems.
Psychotherapy takes the approach that experiences, behaviours and attitudes, social conditioning and the environment are important in shaping the way the mind works. For psychotherapy to be most effective it is helpful if the individual has the ability to consider the ways in which their own actions and behaviours may be contributing to the difficulties they find themselves in. From an early age, we find ways of managing our experiences and this influences how we cope in later life. With the therapist's help, we can come to understand these experiences and make sense of how we have dealt with them in the past and make different and better choices about how we deal with challenges we face in the present. This leads to the process of change. All of us can benenfit from counselling at some point in our lives.
